Every brand has a story and a reputation. We start each new client relationship with a strategy seminar that allows us to isolate and distill the meat & potatoes that differentiate their brand from the competition. Strategy gives us a clear foundation and direction, allowing us to help our clients build their reputation and develop their brand with greater effectiveness.
As the founding and managing partner of Mother Sponge, Sean conceived the studio intent in 2009 as his design services began to expand within a community of prominent food and beverage industry leaders.
After cutting his teeth as a graphic designer at Art.com -- and achieving foodie status while living in Berkeley -- he relocated to San Diego with his wife Stacy, where they founded Set & Drift as an outlet to collaborate with an international group of multidisciplinary artists, designers, and organizations, producing events throughout the Southern California region. Mother Sponge was launched soon thereafter.
Sean's passion for food is rivaled only by his drive to collaborate and create meaningful work alongside innovative food and hospitality leaders and the many creative collaborators of the Mother Sponge family.
Sean's recent projects include full scale branding services for San Diego Brewers Guild and San Diego Beer Week; San Diego's award-winning Societe Brewing Company; and several soon-to-be launched craft beer and spirits brands.
Stacy brings a background in marketing and project management to Mother Sponge, having worked in the design and architecture industry for 14 years at firms throughout Southern California and San Francisco. After studying marketing and art + architectural history in Vienna, Austria and Seattle, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she worked for acclaimed interior design studio NICOLEHOLLIS.
In 2006, she moved with her husband Sean to San Diego, where they founded Set & Drift to initiate interdisciplinary events and exhibitions with a network of international artists and designers.
Her experiences within this art and design community have shaped the creative direction she applies to Mother Sponge today, extending the brands of visionary hospitality and commercial clients into the physical environment.
